Our Timber Species

Auscraft works exclusively with proven Australian hardwoods:

  • Spotted Gum — AS 5604 Class 1 above-ground durability, Janka hardness 11 kN. Expected service life 40+ years in outdoor use without ground contact. The flagship species for coastal and subtropical applications.
  • Ironbark — Class 1, Janka 14 kN — the densest commercially available Australian hardwood. Exceptional resistance to splitting, checking and insect attack. Preferred for high-traffic public installations.
  • Merbau / Kwila — Class 2, Janka 8.6 kN. Warm reddish-brown colour with a fine, stable grain. 25+ year outdoor service life; widely specified for hospitality and resort environments.

All timber is dressed, sanded and finished with a UV-stable penetrating oil before despatch. Maintenance oiling every 12–18 months is recommended for maximum service life.
