Picnic Bench Australia
Picnic Benches Australia — Hardwood Timber, Built to Order
In Australia, the terms "picnic bench" and "picnic table" are often used interchangeably — both refer to an outdoor table with integrated bench seating on each side. Auscraft Furniture builds hardwood picnic benches (with attached bench seats) and freestanding outdoor benches to order from our West Gosford, NSW workshop. Every piece is made from Australian hardwood: Spotted Gum, Ironbark, Merbau or QLD Red Gum.
We deliver picnic benches Australia-wide, including NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, ACT, TAS and NT.
Picnic Bench Styles Available
Classic Picnic Bench (Table + Attached Seats)
The most common configuration: a timber table with bench seats fixed to the same frame. Available in 4-seater (1200mm), 6-seater (1800mm) and 8-seater (2400mm) lengths. Suitable for residential backyards, school grounds, parks and light commercial settings. View the Classic Picnic Table.
Heavy Duty Commercial Picnic Bench
Built from heavier-section timber for high-traffic commercial environments — councils, parks, sporting clubs, beer gardens and outdoor venues. Rated for sustained daily use. Specify Ironbark for maximum durability or Spotted Gum for aesthetic appeal. View the Heavy Duty Commercial Picnic Bench.
Premium Hardwood Picnic Bench
Feature-grade Spotted Gum or Ironbark bench and table. Preferred for hospitality venues, resort surrounds and premium residential outdoor areas where timber grain character matters alongside durability. View the Premium Hardwood Picnic Bench.
Accessible Picnic Bench
End-entry configuration with wheelchair approach clearance consistent with AS 1428.1. Suitable for councils, schools, aged care, and any public outdoor area with a DDA compliance obligation. See our accessible picnic bench guide.
Picnic Bench vs Picnic Table — What's the Difference?
In Australian usage, "picnic bench" typically refers to the whole unit — the table with its attached bench seats. This is the same product as a "picnic table." Some people use "picnic bench" to describe a standalone outdoor bench seat without a table; Auscraft can build freestanding outdoor bench seats as custom orders — contact us with your requirements.
Timber Species for Australian Outdoor Conditions
All Auscraft picnic benches are built from AS 5604 Durability Class 1 hardwood — the highest classification for above-ground outdoor timber use in Australia:
- Ironbark — deepest red-brown grain, highest natural hardness (Janka 14 kN), maximum durability in exposed coastal and high-UV environments
- Spotted Gum — honey to chocolate grain, Class 1 durability, popular choice for its visual appeal alongside performance
- Merbau — warm orange-brown, suited to pool surrounds and wet environments
- QLD Red Gum — distinctive red grain, Class 1, available as a premium option

Custom Picnic Bench Sizes and Configurations
Every Auscraft picnic bench is built to order. Standard sizes run from 1200mm (4-seater) to 3000mm (10-seater). Non-standard widths, heights, and configurations — including accessible end-entry, umbrella hole, custom colour stain and specific leg angles — are all available. Provide your dimensions, site requirements and timber preference when requesting a quote.
Commercial and Bulk Picnic Bench Orders
For orders of 5 or more picnic benches, commercial pricing applies. Councils, sporting clubs, hospitality venues, holiday parks and schools regularly order 10–30+ benches. We coordinate staged delivery to multiple sites and provide full procurement documentation including AS 5604 spec sheets and ABN. See our commercial bulk orders page
