Why July-August 2026 Is the Ideal Window for Spring Furniture Orders
Australia's outdoor season runs September through March, the reverse of the Northern Hemisphere. Spring starts in September, which means the ordering window for guaranteed spring delivery is right now: July and August 2026. With Auscraft's standard 3-4 week production and delivery lead time, an order placed in late July arrives before the September school holidays. An August order is in place for October, peak outdoor use season.
Waiting until October to order typically results in delivery in November or later. For hospitality venues, councils, schools, and backyard owners who want outdoor furniture ready for the first warm weekends of spring, acting in July-August is the difference between being ready and being behind.
Who Is Ordering Right Now, and Why
Hospitality and Outdoor Dining
Cafes, beer gardens, winery cellar doors and outdoor dining venues in Australia know their busiest months are October through March. Smart operators order outdoor furniture in winter so the fitout is complete before the first warm weekend brings customers outdoors. A beer garden that's adding 10 picnic tables for the summer rush needs those tables bolted down and finished by late September, not ordered in October.
See our beer gardens and pubs page and wineries and cellar doors page for commercial configurations.
Schools, Term 4 Outdoor Areas
Term 4 across most Australian states starts in mid-to-late January. Schools ordering outdoor furniture, canteen surrounds, shade structure seating, accessible tables for playgrounds, need delivery during the Term 3 holiday window (late September to mid-October). An order placed in August lands squarely in that delivery window.
See our schools and childcare page for AS 1428.1 accessible configurations and standard school seating setups.
Councils, Spring Park Activations
Parks departments running spring recreational node upgrades, new picnic shelters, replacement accessible furniture, river park installations, budget and order in July-August for October installation. This aligns with the start of the FY2027 capital spending cycle and targets completion before the summer visitor season.

Corporate End-of-Year Events and Campus Upgrades
Corporate campuses hosting end-of-year events in November-December often upgrade outdoor breakout areas and courtyard furniture in August-September. Staff outdoor dining areas, courtyard tables, and event lawn furniture are all better ordered in winter for spring installation. See our corporate campuses page.
Timber Species for Australian Spring and Summer Conditions
All Auscraft picnic tables use Australian Class 1 hardwood, the highest natural durability rating for above-ground outdoor use. No artificial treatment required for Australian outdoor conditions. Species selection for spring and summer:
- Ironbark: Janka hardness 14 kN, natural UV resistance, deep red-brown grain. Best choice for exposed coastal locations, north-facing areas, and high-UV sites in QLD and SA. Resists surface checking in extreme dry heat better than most species.
- Spotted Gum: Honey to chocolate wavy grain, Class 1 durability, lower surface maintenance requirements. Suited to resort, winery, and hospitality applications where aesthetics matter as much as performance. Handles QLD humidity and VIC coastal conditions equally well.
- Merbau: Warm orange-brown, excellent moisture tolerance. Suited to pool surrounds, aquatic centres, and high-humidity coastal sites. Note: new Merbau will release tannin staining in the first two seasons, this is normal and stops naturally.
